Learning does not only happen when we step away from work to attend a course. It happens in the midst of our work – when we solve problems, collaborate, assess situations, experiment with new technologies, and encounter situations for which we do not already have the answers.

This webinar series on behalf of the Nordplus Project A Lifetime of Learning: Mapping Competence Development in the Workplace
Project number NPAD-2025/10300, funded by teh Nordic Council of Ministers explores the workplace as a learning environment in its own right. The focus is on how knowledge is developed through practice – and on how organisations can make the learning that is already taking place more visible, shared and oriented towards development. The series moves from technology and knowledge development to knowledge cultures and learning through practice, and then to AI as a partner in learning and learning design. The common thread is simple: How do we create workplaces that not only adapt to change – but become better at learning through it?

Webinar 1 Technology and Knowledge Development in Workplace-Based Learning

Thursday, 8 October 2026 • 13:00–16:00

When technology changes, work changes with it.

New technologies do more than change the tools we use. They change tasks, relationships, professional roles – and our assumptions about who knows what.

This webinar explores how employees develop knowledge while working with new digital systems, platforms and technology-enabled workflows. A key challenge is moving from individual adaptation and improvisation towards shared organisational learning.

Technological change is rarely straightforward. New solutions can bring both greater efficiency and greater complexity, increased autonomy and increased control, new opportunities and new dependencies. The ability to engage thoughtfully with dilemmas and paradoxes therefore becomes part of the learning itself.
