Rethinking the Future Through Ethical Leadership

During the week of 2- 4 September 2024, over 500 participants gathered in Geneva, Switzerland for the Global Ethics Forum2024 under the hashtag #GlobalEthicsForum2024

I was honored and grateful for being invited as a panelist to discuss Ethical Leadership in the age of openness and AI

The form of the conference was hybrid, half of them were on-site in Geneva, Switzerland. The conference gatherd some 78 speakers from 35 countries and 6 continents, including policymakers, high-level experts, and practitioners from governments, multilateral, non-governmental, private, and civil society sectors, who contributed to enriching the reflection, from theoretical and practical perspectives, about the future of higher education in the fourth Industrial Revolution era, organized under five themes:

💡Ethical Implications of AI in Higher Education
💡A Culture of Innovation
💡Equitable Leadership
💡Social Justice
💡Future Praxis

The forum's policy recommendations with evidence-based documentation will soon be published in a public policy report. In the meantime...

Days before the Future Summit, innovative ideas, ground-breaking initiatives, and impactful coalitions were launched under the hashtag #GEF2024 to put ethical leadership at the center of multi-stakeholder dialog and global and sectoral governance. To this end, numerous reports and key publications were published, and, of course, the Globethics Youth Leadership Award, a major highlight of the event

The report from the ICDE Leadership Summit 2024 #ICDELS24 was launched a the Forum, and is now available: Ethical Leadership in the Age of AI: Rethinking Futures of Education, the Policy Report from hashtagICDELS24


The outcome of the ICDE - International Council for Open and Distance Education Leadership Summit hosted by Globethics in Geneva from 5 to 7 June 2024, in partnership with UNESCO-ICHEI, the report was launched during the hashtagGlobalEthicsForum2024, during the Panel on AI in Higher Education: how can higher education institutions move from fighting back to guiding responsible innovation? with Asha Kanwar, Ebba Ossiannilsson, Amélé Ekué and Santiago Bellomo, moderated by Divya Singh.

The editorial team for the report were: Erin Green, PhD, Maha Bali, BI Xiaohan, Ratna Malar Selvaratnam EdD SFHEA and Santiago Bellomo, and to all those who contributed to this important publication.
