Within the framework of the 2019’s European Lecture Series, the Institute of Education at Universidad del Norte held the XII edition of the "Societies before the Digital Challenge and the UNESCO International Chair Seminar" Symposium on March 21 and 22 of 2019 in Barranquilla (Colombia), which on this occasion addressed topics related to E-learning, Higher Education and Quality. 

I was invited to give several presentations Open Education in and for the 21st century. Impact and challenges and CHALLENGES OF E-LEARNING IN HIGHER EDUCATION. QUALITY AND REPUTATION. discussions in panels, and participating in Ph.D. Symposium as well as a 1/2 day with V Chancellor, Deans, and Directors on the discussion going Online for Universidad del Nort.

The concert 9th Beethoven Symphony with among others, Opera Singer Alexandra Steiner and Laura Lungu, General Manager - Concertissimo Entertainment Ltd.we had the opportunity to attend in Barranquilla, Colombia organized by Catedra Europa and Universidad del Norte. The event has been characterized as an academic and citizen meeting place, in which teachers, researchers, students, representatives of the government and of companies and the general public meet to reflect on and discuss current issues of relevance. with the processes of education, integrating digital technologies as a transversal element that has united all the conferences, panels of experts and cycles of presentations that seek to socialize results of research and innovation experiences on the central theme of this activity.

On this occasion, thanks to the link with the UNESCO Chair in Education and Technology for Social Change and the Open University of Catalonia, efforts are combined between the Digital Challenge Symposium and the International Seminar of this Chair, for the debate, dissemination and exchange of knowledge and experiences related to the relationship between ICT, education and development in the world, especially in a topic of global interest such as the quality of education in virtual environments of learning or online education.

In this regard, we will count with the participation of national and international experts who will invigorate spaces of dialogue with the academic and scientific community and government entities related to the issues to be addressed.
