The global elite gathers in Davos for the annual World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos 22-25 January 2019. WEF gathers thousands of leaders from the economic and political global elite of the Swiss little alpine town of Davos. The theme of this years WEF is:

How decision makers should handle what is called the fourth industrial revolution.

Even the young 16 years Climate Activist from Sweden Greta Thunberg will be there.

This fourth wave of globalization must be focused on human, inclusive and sustainable," writes Davos founder Professor Klaus Schwab in a comment. According to Schwab, it is about managing what he calls a period of extensive global instability caused by both technical and geopolitical development.

WEF has soon taken place over 50 years. It started in a small format in 1971, under the title European Management Symposium, with Professor Klaus Schwab as a driving force. Until 1987, the meeting was formally called for the European Management Forum.

Since the 1970s, the Davos meeting has grown into a billion-dollar industry. This year's meeting is no exception. The price tag for membership and the finest tickets, which gives access to everything and everyone, is on hundreds of thousands of dollars.

This year, about 3000 official participants are expected to attend the exclusive little alpine, January 22-25. In addition to the official participants of hundreds of seminars and panels with different variants of this year's theme, a large press summit and large crowds of businessmen, lobbyists, and officials add to the often snowy alpine resort ranging from caravans of cars to exclusive dinners, secret business deals, and networking.
