About EntreComp?
For some time now, I have been following and working with EntreComp in almost all the work and projects I work on. So, what is EntreComp? Let us explore a bit more.
EntreComp describes entrepreneurship as a lifelong competence, identifies what are the elements that make someone entrepreneurial and describes them to establish a common reference for initiatives dealing with entrepreneurial learning.
EntreComp is a free, flexible reference framework that can be adapted to support the development and understanding of entrepreneurial competence in any setting. EntreComp has the potential to be used in a variety of ways including:
- supporting policy and practice to develop entrepreneurial skills
- assessing entrepreneurial skills
- supporting the training of educators, trainers, and teachers to deliver entrepreneurial skills
- to design programs and learning opportunities
- to recognize and certify skills
EntreComp can be used across sectors and be a key support for collaboration and development work by educators, trainers, employers, professional bodies, and policy-makers.

As we live in a rapidly changing society where it is critical that everyone has the ability to seize opportunities and ideas, collaborate with others, manage dynamic careers, and shape the future for the greater good, it is important that everyone has the opportunity to learn 21st century skills.
To achieve these goals we need people, teams and organisations with an entrepreneurial mindset, in every aspect of life.
The European Commission has developed EntreComp: the European Entrepreneurship Competence Framework as a reference framework to explain what is meant by an entrepreneurial mindset.
EntreComp offers a comprehensive description of the knowledge, skills and attitudes that people need to be entrepreneurial and create financial, cultural or social value for others.
EntreComp is a common reference framework that identifies 15 competences in three key areas that describe what it means to be entrepreneurial.
Get recognised for your work through the EntreComp Awards, which are designed to recognise anyone who wants to be part of building an inclusive and diverse community of people and organisations engaged in entrepreneurial learning. These awards will recognise those who are starting out as well as those who are further along in supporting entrepreneurial learning and the use of EntreComp. These awards are being introduced as part of a wider European Union initiative to support the implementation of EntreComp and were originally developed and tested as part of the EntreCompEurope project, which is co-funded by the European Union's COSME programme. It brings you or your organisation into the growing network of practitioners, organisations and policy makers who are part of the EntreComp community. The awards include recognition at four levels:
Supporter - demonstrating your interest in using EntreComp to support entrepreneurial learning
Explorer - explores and tests how to use EntreComp through their work
Practitioner - they actively use EntreComp to support entrepreneurial learning in different areas of their work
Champion - who uses EntreComp as a supporting tool to change the policy or practise of entrepreneurial learning within and outside their organisation
